Case Study: Fracture
One story is of Trena, who in August fell against a chair and broke her right leg. She was brought to Mercy Hospital where she had surgery. At 90 years young, her doctor told her that it was going to be very difficult, in fact her rehab prognosis when she arrived at Sanctuary at the Park was poor. With a rod in her leg she was totally dependant for her daily needs. She began little by little to participate in therapy. She states, “I never looked ahead more than a day at a time. With the help of the therapists, caregivers and prayers of many people now I am going home with a walker and I can do most anything. The therapists were very patient and caring. Day by day with their help, I am now where I am – going home!” She left us in October to go back home to live alone with supportive family living nearby. |
